Anxiety……. What is it??? Well stop now and think… we could ask every person have they ever felt anxious? If they say no then maybe there made of steal haha! The difference is that people who suffer with “an anxiety disorder” differ from those who feel a bit anxious about an exam or a date. So lets see what an anxiety disorder really is.
A good definition that I found useful to help me understand it “is the body’s way of responding to danger”. The fight or flight situation kicks in where adrenaline rushes into the bloodstream and makes us feel the way we do when were anxious. However, people who have an anxiety disorder tend to scan our every day life for situations, which triggers the anxiety “attacks” off, the situation doesn’t always need to be a reality, sometimes the situations steam from in our own minds. Therefore, we don’t need to be in a situation to make us anxious, you could just be at home sat in your bedroom and booom….. The attack comes from nowhere.
Some people’s attacks are different, ill describe how I feel during my attacks and maybe some of you can relate to this.
