Hey there, today we are going to see how exercising can actually help you to reduce stress. Nowdays human beings are the most stressed out we have ever been, chances are you are stressed right now. We have stressful jobs with deadlines to meet, kids running rings round us, we are in a global recession and we have bills to pay… the list could go on and on.
So before you go to the doctors looking for some magic pills, why not try one of the best ways I know of naturally reducing stress. Why not exercise??
When exercising for stress relief the intensity doesn’t have to be that of an Olympic athlete or a body-builder. If your only goal is to reduce stress, then try some light intensity stuff to get the blood flowing.
Here are some exercises that are great for reducing stress levels:
> Walking/ hiking
> Bike riding
If you are really stressed, please avoid running, or endless cardio, because although it may take your mind off it for an hour or two, but due to the impact, will actually place more stress onto the body. This is bad because you will then release a hormone called cortisol (the stress hormone) which will make you feel worse, and can even lead to weight gain. So it could make you fatter.
Here are some of the benefits exercise has in relation to stress:
>Exercising releases chemicals called endorphins which make you feel good, makes you happier and makes you feel healthier
>It actually removes waste products from the brain, making your brain function better
>Improves blood flow to the brain making it easier to get the nutrients and energy, which helps when you are thinking intensely
So if you are feeling stressed, why not try to reduce it by being active? I know I would rather do a little bit of exercise than go to see a doctor… which in itself is a rather stressful experience anyway.
